For the Greta Good?

I wrote a piece about Greta Thunberg some years ago, but didn’t post it because it seemed a little churlish against a young person who seemed to have her heart in the right place even if her enthusiasm was a little myopic. I explained how I supported her basic concerns about climate change, but felt her attitude of blanket condemnation of anyone older than herself for the problem was facile, juvenile and plain stupid. I ended on an upbeat note, encouraging her to continue but to embrace all generations on the side of the planet. I no longer feel like that.

The nail in the coffin of my tolerance for the annoying Swede was her recent unconditional support for the ‘Palestinian’ propaganda machine, complete with Blue Octopus trope reminiscent of Josef Plank’s portrayal of Churchill as a Zionist octopus in a c1938 Nazi cartoon. She, or her PR people, quickly had the sense to repost the picture with the octopus dropped out, but it was a bit late by then. She said she was ‘unaware’ the octopus was an anti-Semitic symbol but that it was “a tool often used by autistic people as a way to communicate their feelings”. I have autism and I have never been tempted to use a cuddly Eichmann doll to let people know how I feel.

She has since seen fit to write for the Guardian that ‘Fridays for Future has not “been radicalised” or “become political”. We have always been political, because we have always been a movement for justice. Standing in solidarity with Palestinians and all affected civilians has never been in question for us.’ Fridays for Future was the climate protest group she and others formed in 2018, when she was fifteen, sitting outside the Swedish Parliament instead of going to school.

Does ‘all affected civilians’ include the 1200 murdered Israelis and the 8,000 Israelis injured and raped on October 7th? Didn’t see a peep from Fridays for Future about that. Perhaps Hamas did an offset for their murders and rapes and they were carbon neutral? What the hell the murder of Israeli Jews has got to do with climate change is beyond me anyway. And so too now is any support for Thunberg’s Teeny Climate Terror Tots.

Thoughts for Peace

Rupi and Angelina

like to make a splash.

A name for a cause

and for themselves of course

What better way

to make a headline

to steal a sound bite

and strike a pose.

A poet, an actress

A bit of glamour

amongst the crocodile tears.

Poor babies, so many

all those women too

the bombs, the shells

the indiscriminate lies

and not an anti-Semite

to be seen.

Oh no dear!

My accountant is a Jew

But a good one

not a Zionist

fantasist

who believes the Holocaust myth.

Well I’m sure some died

Just like October seven

but not that many

and most were soldiers.

Its a war

of resistance

you know

like the Maquis

in Secret Army

but with more

Keffiyeh.

Have you tried

Knafeh!

Oh just divine!

Clever those paragliders

whatever they did next.

So brave against all those tanks

Its against international law

bombing civilians

And hospitals

and you can’t believe a word

tunnels under schools indeed.

Well they would say that

that Netanyahu

well he’d do anything.

At least the celebs

have got it right

Oh yes, Alan Partridge

Tilda too,

Yes a bit odd

but she’s Scottish

and that nice Yusaf

is as well

His parents in law

How much did he give?

and Miriam’s in,

she’s a Jew too you know

Yes they probably would

kill her in Khan Younis

but she’s not going there is she

Though they might be coming here

can you be queer

in Al Aqsa?

No

didn’t think so

brave move then really.

I don’t think they killed that many

did they?

They did!

But it was Israel’s fault

They thought they’d stop them

I suppose the marchers thought that too

What happened to the Met?

You can’t even get

a bobby to beat a leftie up

today.

Spoils it all somehow.

Still,

there’ll be a poppy seller or two.

The Milford Ultimatum

Sam Knight's New Book

Sam Knight’s New Book

I went to a book launch on Saturday. Well, it was the local launch. I believe the main launch was in London at the Army and Navy Club a couple of weeks ago. As I live near the author and got an invite for the local one I saved myself the train fare and hotel costs and attended that.

The book was Sam Knight’s MILFORD ULTIMATUM. It is about a British ex pat in Bahrain who develops a crush on a local girl with Saudi connections. He is working as a security advisor and things are obviously not about to run smoothly. Throw in a Palestinian connection and British, US and Israeli security interest and we have a witches brew of potential mayhem and intrigue.

Sam has a great background for this work. He worked in the gulf, not as a security advisor I hasten to add, but he knows the territory well and as a former journalist he knows how to write. His ability to build on his experience and extrapolate what ifs promises an intriguing and exciting journey through current tensions.

Available now on Amazon or direct through Carys Books, the Milford Ultimatum is well worth getting. Well written, carefully crafted, believable thriller stories with a human edge are not as common as you might think. Usually one or more of those essential ingredients are missing. Sam has left none out of the Milford Ultimatum and has baked an exceedingly good yarn. If you only buy one thriller this year, make it the Milford Ultimatum. If you want to know more click on the Carys Books logo below
