Interview re-aired

logoIf anyone who missed the Sunday edition of my interview on Art2Art on Swindon1055 and wants to give it another go it is being repeated on this Friday 4 Oct at 1400hrs BST and Sunday 6 Oct at 1500. Word of warning: it is in a compilation edition so I have no idea even roughly when it might be in the programme. So on the internet on this weekend.

Interview-The Truth!

Anyone who listened yesterday to Art2Art will have noticed the complete absence of anything to do with WOLF! or me. The reason for this devastating omission has now been revealed. Not a conspiracy, alien intervention or management decision to pull it. Once again cock up over conspiracy wins the day.

The more perspicacious amongst you will have noticed the odd reference in the ‘What’s on?’ section to things to do with the kids during the summer holidays. This should have alerted me to the truth. Someone loaded the wrong show onto the play system and sent out a two week old show.

Ah well. My apologies again if I wasted anybody’s time.

Interview. Non-appearance of repeat

To anyone who tried to listen today to the interview, my apologies. Looks like the repeat got pulled. Don’t know why. Kim said on Friday after the first run it was due to air again on Sunday. Didn’t think it was that bad! I guess they have other stuff with a more local flavour to fit in. Sorry if I led you away from anything you’d planned for today!

Interview aired

logoOdd hearing your own voice like that. I listened to my interview broadcast on Art2Art this afternoon. Thanks to Kim and everyone at the station.

My daughter was sure it wasn’t me. I’m still not sure why. Although it was a little odd, it sounded more like me to me than the old analogue recordings my father made of me did when I was a child. I suppose I am just that little bit more used to hearing myself than I was then and perhaps modern digital recording equipment helps. I think my daughter’s confusion mainly arose because she listened to what I was saying for once. Something of a rarity in the flesh. Maybe I should pre-record all my conversations with her.

I’m not sure how many people caught the piece. I did have some immediate feedback with people ringing to say they had heard it and they seemed to like it. But you are left with a kind of feeling of…’and?’ As if things should somehow happen just because your voice has been on another medium. I haven’t had that feeling with newspaper interviews, I suspect because I never know when those are being published until some kind soul tells me they’ve read the relevant article. By which time the whole thing has long gone.

For those who missed it, there is a repeat on Sunday at 3pm on

I may listen again myself. Turning into a media tart already!

Swindon 1055 Radio Interview Friday 30 August

There are ways to prepare for interviews. Wrestling with Tuesday evening traffic and the one way system in Bristol isn’t one of the recommended ones. We fought an honourable draw with me eventually finding a parking space within a couple of minutes walk of my destination, the Old Vic Theatre.

Fortunately I wasn’t there for an audition. I had an interview with Kim Wright for Swindon 1055 radio. Kim presents Art2Art on the station and wanted an interview about my motivation for WOLF! and my writing in general.

This was a first for me, I’ve done print interviews before but never radio, so I didn’t have many preconceptions. I think I had expected a list of questions before hand but Kim likes to keep it spontaneous so I went in with an open (blank?) mind. (I didn’t feel I had yet reached the Jeffrey Archer stage of handing him a list with a casual ‘These are the questions.’)

It felt relaxed despite not being entirely sure where we might go with it and I enjoyed the experience. Whether that is a good thing or not, I am not sure. I’ll find out how it plays after the edit when I hear the broadcast myself . I’m not in the area that receives the show but it is broadcast live on the web at on Friday at 2pm and repeated on Sunday at 3pm.

So if you want to put a voice to the face and the words, now’s your chance. on Friday at 2pm and repeated on Sunday at 3pm.
